Disable HDMI sound output when using optical (TOSLINK) output on AppleTV - Ask Different

Can you imagine it was the cable But why PS3 works fine though??? The link below has a link to Apple's ATV feedback page. My temporary work-around to get audio to my Azur AV amp is to run an optical cable from Apple TV to my TV then from the TV to the amp.

A bit riducolous but at least you can play music I just updated my apple tv to 5. Unfortunately, no sound comming from the apple tv. The ATV3 on the other hand, cannot get sound from the optical ouput to my NAD T sound system. So, to sum it up, the only way I can get it to work is to send the signal to a Technics Digital Surrounfd Sound processor. The processor's optical input seems sensitive enough to receive the optical signal and decode the DD signal from Apple. My NAD receiver does receive DD, but the specifications apple tv optical out not working not specify which format it decodes I do however sometimes drop audio as I am gessing the optical signal is not that strong from the ATV3.
