Saving How to get Money out of NetSpend Account? I'm new to this so I have been studying up but I am missing one piece of the equation: There are all sorts of posts about this but some of the information is contradictory and possibly out of date with new policies so I thought I'd ask the community.

I see I can get money onto the card via direct deposit or bank to bank transfer for free. And from there I can get it into the savings account for free 6x per month transfer limit. Finally, I see I can get it back onto the card for free included in the 6x per month limit.

But how do I get it off the card? I see there is an option to close the account and I will be mailed a check after 20 business days. That is not ideal if I don't want to close the account or wait that long or pay the fee.

I was hoping to use this account as a high yield emergency fund but if I can't get the money into my checking account it may not be ideal for that depending on the emergency. I use ETrade for my checking account.

It looks like there is an option to transfer in money from NetSpend. I can test this when it gets set up - will there be a fee?

I can't find any mention of it in NetSpend's fine print. ETrade claims there aren't any fees going in or out that's why I love them. Will that be enough to keep from paying the inactive fee? It's not listed in the fine print but I have read on other blogs that it is. Ally Bank is a good one. Just open an account at Ally. You will be able to add the netspend card as an external account and then setup a ACH pull to get the money out.

What about avoiding the monthly inactivity fee? There is no monthly inactivity fee as long as you have activity at least once every 90 days. This load transaction should satisfy the terms and avoid the fee. If enrolled in the FeeAdvantage Plan FAP or NetSpend Premier FAP and your Card Account has had no activity as described above, this fee applies instead of the FAP Fee.

Yes, you can do an ACH pull. That is, that your bank requests the money from netspend. It takes two days or so, and you have the money in your checking account.

I've done in several times from my different netspend cards and its free on both sides. Just be sure to have moved the money back from savings to checking before you initiate the pull. When setting up the link, your bank probably sent two small ACH pushes and one or two pulls to make sure the account was yours.

One option is to just hit up an ATM and take it out in cash and then deposit it into the bank. Another is to load your Paypal or similar account, and then transfer the funds into your checking account through that.

The PayPal thing might work. I'll look into that further.

I think they work with NetSpend so maybe they'll cooperate. I think maybe if I initiate the transfer from outside either ETrade or PayPal it could work.

Many have suggested Ally. I am looking into that as well.

It will be convenient if I dont have to deal with another bank just to get the money out. I have Chase currently I have started the process of linking my ETrade checking account. The confirmation funds were sent yesterday and I should be able to confirm in the next day or two. I read on one blog that ETrade works with NetSpend so that's encouraging.

My buddy tried PNC and it failed.

Not sure about Chase. If ETrade fails I hope it doesn't then I will try my PayPal account. PayPal has a NetSpend option so I'm pretty confident that would work.

Will then do an "ACH Pull" from either ETrade or PayPal as you can't "ACH Push" from NetSpend. Did you guys ever figure this out?
